I am SO IMPRESSED!!! It is amazing to me how you have progressed from a child who had problems with reading and writing, to an adult who could write a 500+ page book. Whew!! Not very many people could do such a thing. You deserve to feel very proud of your accomplishments!
I enjoyed reading the book, even though it is not the genre that I ever read. It was interesting following Tranquility and crew through their days, their attack and their recovery. I caught several references to Marin County and read some names that were familiar. I also could identify with most of the references to music and performers. My favorite character was Irma, the AI crew member. Although she was pretty quirky, I liked that she seemed to daydream and to have feelings like a human. Glad that she got Ross back with his new body at the end.
I can tell you did lots of research for your writing. Interesting rereading the Glossary. I love that it even included 2 recipes! I understand this book is part of a trilogy and that you are already writing the next. Good for you! In the footsteps of George Lucas.

I really enjoyed your book! The writing flows & it's very engaging. Normally I wouldn't choose a "space-age" book to read - you made it seem like a realistic possibility. And if we are to survive I believe space is probably "the option".

"Highly entertaining!
The glittering entertainment of a casino, the suspense of battle between heroes and villains, the glimpses into the minds of people as they struggle and work with each other toward a common goal, the warm feeling when they discover love, some unobtrusive humor that sneaks up on you – all these are part of Schuyler M. Wood’s novel A Crisis At Tranquility. Mr. Wood skillfully weaves the threads of his plot(s) into a rich tapestry of hope, fear, laughter, tears, despair and redemption as he leads us through the story of Tranquility and its denizens.
Caveat: there is definitely some X-rated language from one character in particular. However, as the story progresses, it becomes clear that this is not just gratuitous profanity, but rather an illustration of one facet of the character’s personality – to the point where, looking back, I’m actually not sure the book would have been as effective without it. (That said, though, caution should be used with readers who may be uncomfortable with the expletive.)
Overall, the book is a good read, keeping the readers on edge waiting for the next development, yet resolving in a positive outcome while still leaving readers wondering what might await them in any future sequels. Definitely recommended!"

I love to read, but most of the time when I try to do that after work, I tend to dose off pretty quickly ... and then I came across this book! I swallowed it within a week! I loved the plot and the character development, I enjoyed the action and the jokes. The book was very captivating and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Can hardly wait for part 2!
